CREEKSIDE DOLLS Below are samples of dolls that live in the Creekside Doll Haus and/or some who have moved to new homes with new owners. They reside in a small workshop between two small creeks in a quiet Southeastern Corner of Pennsylvania and range in size from two inches to five feet, both male and female.
Each doll is created with painstaking care. The porcelain parts are poured from molds, hand cleaned, painted, and dressed in clothing designed to create an image. Some dolls may have composition bodies and have porcelain parts added. All reproduction dolls, dolls copied from antiques, always have composition bodies. This is due to the fact that when the original dolls were made they did not use porcelain bodies but used composition bodies. Therefore, in order to make the reproduction as authentic as possible, todays doll makers use the composition bodies on all reproduction dolls. Modern dolls are all procelain or a blend of porcelain and cloth.
Many times modern dolls are made to represent a person such as Tom Sawyer, Becky Thatcher, Shirley Temple, someone's child or relative, a bride, etc. This, then, makes them "one of a kind". That's why the photos are samples because, even though I can make another doll with the same face and body, the clothes will be different, the hair might be different, even the painting could be somewhat altered from the sample.
I will also consider minor repairs but retain the right to decline any requests I determine may be beyond my ability to complete satisfactorily.

Sparkling WaterThe indian girl, Sparkling Water, is holding her toy "settlers" dolls which are also hand made. Sparkling Waters' doll and the doll's doll. This doll is about 20" tall, with jewelry hand made by me. She has porcelain head, hands, legs and a cloth body. She wears a cotton two piece dress with cotton slip and pantaloons and moccasins. |
My PrincessThe sleeping baby wearing the christening gown. This head and hands are porcelain while the body including the feet are cloth. The gown is hand made and I personally embroiderd the design on the front panel of the gown. It is made from a fine cotton batist. She is wearing a fine cotton slip and a cloth diaper. She measures approximately 14". |
Little Miss Easter Stands 12" tall with porcelain head and a composition body. Her clothing consists of a hand sewn, smocked cottom seersucker jumper, cotton blouse trimmed in lace, lace trimmed slip and panties. She is wearing lace trimmed socks, and purple shoes and a hat band to match her dress. |
Reese Is a doll with a happy smile. The smile is so genuine that it makes you feel like smiling back to her. She was commissioned to look like a grandchild of the purchaser and, when finished, she looked just like the photo that was given to me. The purchaser was very pleased. She had a porcelain head, hands and legs/feet. I dressed her in rayon taffeta lace trimmed slip and panites, lace trimmed socks which are not visible in photo, and a dupioni silk dress which I designed to look "sailor style" as was requested. Her shoes were blue to match the color of the dress and the ribbon in her hair was also made from the same material as dress.

Miss BrideIs a reproduction of an antique doll. She sports an embossed satin dress covered with antique laces. Pantaloons and slip and a full length veil also complete her outfit. I handmade her wig from mohair and I made her shoes from leather. She has porcelain head and a completely articulated composition body. |
